Made in Arezzo in Tuscany, this large bulldog miniature shows the expressive detailing typical of Italian
animal figurines from the period, with a solid stance and clearly defined features.
In Italian decorative culture the bulldog came to symbolise loyalty, protection and a grounded strength.
